COMPOST YOUR PUMPKIN
If you have a garden compost heap, your pumpkin will make a good addition to it. If you didn’t hollow out your pumpkin, you’ll have to do that before you compost it, otherwise the seeds will germinate and you’ll end up with a pumpkin patch on your compost heap! To help it breakdown quicker cut it up into half a dozen slices then it won’t take up too much space, and make sure you remove any candles or inorganic decorations.
FEEDING BIRDS
Birds love pumpkin. Why not turn your pumpkin into a bird feeder? Simply cut the pumpkin into slices. Make a hole in the centre of the slices and thread string through, knotting it on a small stick underneath. Hang them on branches and the birds will peck out the soft flesh. Yum!
When hollowing out your pumpkin, don’t forget to keep the seeds which you can either serve up on the bird table together with any pulp or separate them out to dry. Once dry they can be added to your bird feeder. Birds love pumpkin seeds.

It is with huge frustration and sadness that we will not be open for pumpkins this year. The inclement weather throughout the spring and summer has meant that our pumpkins have not grown as well as we'd hoped. We are really disappointed as usually we look forward to welcoming you to the farm at this time of year. We hope you have a fantastic Halloween!
